95 POINTS
Wine Spectator, James Molesworth

"A densely packed version, with a range of almost zesty blackberry, boysenberry and açaí fruit flavors that
ripple with energy, while singed anise, briar, apple wood and licorice snap accents fill in throughout. A vivid red."

2021 HALL Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting notes

Our 2021 Diamond Mountain Cabernet opens with concentrated aromas of black fruits, earth, cocoa, and wet stone. On the palate, there’s a perfectly balanced acidity that intensifies abundant dark fruit flavors alongside hints of forest, black pepper, and a mineral note. Overall, the structure is full-bodied, rich, and lengthy—displaying powerful tannin and an age worthy grip on the finish.

Vineyard notes

Diamond Mountain Cabernet

Nestled amidst the Mayacama Mountains in northwestern Napa Valley. Only 500 acres of vines are planted in this rugged terrain.

Volcanic and Porous Soils

Diamond Mountain's name is derived from the abundant deposits of obsidian and volcanic glass in the soils.

Opulent and Expressive

Warm hillsides and rugged terrains produce wines that express a combination of robust mountain structure and a soft, generous texture unique to this small corner of Napa Valley.

Wine Facts

Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.

Vintage Notes

The alluring 2021 vintage is notable for its low yields, which resulted in an extra degree of concentration in our wines. In a second year of severe drought, the vines grew quickly in the warm spring weather while our team carefully managed irrigation block by block. By summer, the vines had set a lighter than average crop, and cooler weather in August allowed time for multiple vineyard passes to finetune the fruit load and manage the canopy. After a smooth harvest season, we are excited about the beautifully balanced, flavor-packed 2021's.
